Ambassador of The Netherlands to Tanzania Dr Ad Koekkoek has reaffirmed that his country is committed to widen ties with Tanzania in an effort to enhance economic development, trade and investments.
Addressing a reception held on Tuesday in Dar es Salaam to observe Dutch’s Queen Day and the Investiture of King Willem Alexander, Koekkoek, said in recent years most of Dutch investors have been well demonstrated and represented, specifically in horticulture, finance, tourism and energy sectors.
“As we can all remember, last year I said the relationship between Tanzania and The Netherlands are strong and will remain stronger and will mainly be oriented in economic development, trade and investments,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the envoy has hailed the recent great visit to his country by the President of Tanzania, Jakaya Kikwete with other senior government officials, civil servants, MPs and ministers.
He said the Kingdom has been impressed by Tanzania’s government, President Jakaya Kikwete in particular, for announcing the reopening of Tanzania’s embassy in The Netherlands.
In another development the ambassador applauded the achievements registered by the Bank of Tanzania (BoT) by lowering inflation rate to a single digit. “This is an important achievement for the bank, but most likely ordinary people – wananchi,” he said.
The celebration of the Queen’s Day and the investiture of King Willem at the Ambassador’s residence drew delegates from various diplomatic corps, political leaders, senior government officials, and the Deputy Minister for Energy and Minerals, George Simbachawene.
Dr Wilbroad Slaa, Chama cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo Secretary General, for his part, hailed The Netherlands for its political stability saying this was a result of their Presidential system.
“Their government is governed by Queenship/Kingship … this is the high rank of administering the government, however both of them are not linked with any political party,” he said.
In the same venue the Deputy Minister for Energy and Minerals, George Simbachawene said that the cooperation between the two governments has been of development oriented and that the country expects to learn more from their counterparts in The Netherlands, in drilling gas and oil.
