His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE in his capacity as Ruler of Dubai, issued a decree appointing Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina Dubai Police Commander-in-Chief on Saturday.
Al Mazeina thanked Shaikh Mohammed for the trust reposed in him and said his appointment was an honour that would allow him to serve the country and contribute to maintaining security across the emirate.

Former Commander-in-Chief Lt. General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, who became the Deputy-Chairman of Dubai Police and Public Security in October, said the decision to appoint Al Mazeina would ensure Dubai remained safe and stable.
He said his successor was the right person for the job, as he was known for his dedication to excellence and keeping on top of the best police practices.
The six-foot Emirati became a police officer in 1983, before joining the Department of Anti-Narcotics 10 years later. He became the criminal investigation section director in 1997, before being appointed the General Department of Criminal Investigation director in 2002. Al Mazeina, who is renowned for his ability to read people and detect criminals, became Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police in 2008.
