Designed by South African golf expert, this new golf course that was officially opened by Zanzibar President Ali Mohamed Shein, in February, this year, has already successful hosted two official events.
The latest was September Monthly Mug Golf event that was the first one for the year at the course.
Club golf manager, Sophie Nyanjera, told the ‘Sunday News’ from Zanzibar yesterday that the course was ready now to host as many local and international events as possible.
Nyanjera said that currently, they are putting all their efforts in organising local events, but they also plan to organise tournaments that will involve players from neighbouring countries especially for ladies events.
The manager said preparations are on top gear to host two tournaments this month including October monthly mug. Nyanjera said that the 18 holes monthly event is scheduled to tee off on Saturday.
She said that the 18 holes stable ford format event is open for both men divisions and women category. Nyanjera said that invitations have already been sent to other clubs for golfers to register for the tournament.
She said deadline for those wishing to register for the event is set for Wednesday.
“We invite players from all over the country to come and join us as this is an open tournament,” she said.
She insisted that this is the club’s order of merit event in which, winners will be reorganised at the end of the year.
Entry fee for those wishing to take part in the tournament is set at USD 50 that include BBQ with good prizes up for grab for the winners.
Other tournament in place is the October 31st Sea Cliff Resort and Spa Golf Day. She said that this is going to be an 18 holes stroke play event that will also be open for both men and ladies.
In July the club successfully organised the CEO Golf tournament at the course.
