Man drags police constable on car bonnet for 1.5km!

• The constable was rushed to the hospital immediately.

A man dragged a Delhi Police constable holding on to the bonnet of his car for around 1.5km near Samaypur Badli area of the capital on Diwali night. The constable was so much in shock that he filed the case against the driver only the next day.

According to sources, constables Praveen, Subhash, Chetram and Raj Kumar were on duty at Mukarba Chowk. They asked a car to stop at the check point, and the driver increased the speed just as constable Subhash tried to open the car door.

A new research has found that rising seas could affect three times more people by 2050 than previously thought and India's financial capital, Mumbai, is at the risk of being 'wiped out'.

The New York Times has reported that the "authors of a paper published on Tuesday developed a more accurate way of calculating land elevation based on satellite readings, a standard way of estimating the effects of sea-level rise over large areas, and found that the previous numbers were far too optimistic."

Migrants land in Italy after deal with France, Germany!

Rome: Around 100 migrants who were rescued in the Mediterranean landed in Sicily on Wednesday after France and Germany agreed to host some of them, the coast guard said.
“All 104 rescued people have now disembarked from the Ocean Viking,” Doctors Without Borders (MSF), which operates the ship along with SOS Mediterranee, said on Twitter.
“Meanwhile, all our support goes to the Alan Kurdi, (which is) still waiting for a place of safety to disembark 90 people rescued in a critical context last Saturday,” it said.

Tupolev TU-160 – “White Swans” Visits South Africa!

South African aviation enthusiasts were treated a very rare sighting in this week, two Russian Tupolev TU-160 “Blackjack” strategic nuclear bombers visited AFB Waterkloof and OR Tambo international airport. These massive machines, that hail from the height of the “Cold War”, were accompanied by an Antonov AN 124 and an Ilyushin Il-62. The friendly visit to South Africa as part of strengthening ties between the two nations had many people wondering if there was a more sinister motive behind their visit.

The delegation was received by the SAAF’s deputy chief, Major General Innocent Buthelezi and Brigadier General JCJ Butler (Director Combat Systems). Gen Buthelezi said at their arrival on Wednesday “it is a privilege to host the Russian aircraft especially as it is the first time such bombers have landed in Africa”. He added the visit was part of military-to-military cooperation between Russia and South Africa and looked forward to strengthening relations between the two defence forces.

The flight to South Africa was a 13 hours non-stop flight over the Caspian Sea, Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean, covering 11,000 km distance with mid-air refuelling over the Caspian Sea, this was the Tu-160's first ever visit to the African continent. The TU-160’s were intercepted in the Richards Bay area by Gripens and Hawks from the South African Airforce and they accompanied them all the way to AFB Waterkloof.

Initially the landing of the very seldom seen aircraft was delayed by 24 hours due to inclement weather at their point of departure, Engels-2 Air Base, in South Eastern Russia. Engels-2 Air Base is a strategic bomber military airbase in Russia located 14 kilometres east of Saratov. Engels is a major bomber operation base and is Russia's sole operating location for the Tupolev Tu-160 bomber. After a further delay the majestic machines finally appeared over the wall at Waterkloof at 16:25 on Tuesday afternoon, almost thirty four hours later than expected.

The initiative will offer a virtual assistant to users from around the world for their questions

• The virtual assistant has to be 85% sure about the question before it responds.

Dubai will use artificial intelligence (AI) to dole out fatwas virtually, the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai (IACAD) announced on Tuesday, October 29. The initiative is called virtual ifta - which means the act of issuing a fatwa (formal ruling or interpretation on a point of Islamic law given by a qualified Islamic scholar).

The IACAD receives requests for around 130,000 fatwas annually. The initiative will offer a virtual assistant to users from around the world for their questions.

The long-planned initial public offering of a sliver of Saudi Arabia's state-owned oil giant Saudi Aramco will begin this December, a Saudi-owned satellite channel reported on Tuesday, at the start of the kingdom's marquee investment forum.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman hopes Aramco will draw a $2 trillion evaluation, which would raise $100 billion needed to fund his ambitious development plans for the kingdom.

Jobs alert: Canada is hiring over 2,000 workers!

The Philippines Overseas Employment Association (POEA) said they are in talks with the Canadian government over a bilateral labour agreement.

After the agreement, deployment of Filipino workers to Canada will begin, GMA News Online reports.

• Seven people have died due to the hail.

Seven people have died and 11 have been injured due to the hail in Hafr Al Baten city in Saudi Arabia.

Al Riyadh newspaper reported that authorities received more than 1,176 calls and reports in only two days. They were alerted of four people being stuck, 16 people evacuated from their houses, and over 40 vehicles and three houses damaged .

Pictures on social media show the chunks of hail were the size of a hand.

Trump says US may release parts of Baghdadi raid video!

US President Donald Trump said on Monday he may declassify and release part of the video taken on Saturday of the raid in Syria in which Daesh leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was killed.

The video is believed to include aerial footage and possibly footage from cameras mounted on the soldiers who stormed Baghdadi's compound.

"We're thinking about it. We may," Trump told reporters before flying to Chicago. "We may take certain parts of it and release it."

Man has foot bitten off in Australia shark attack!

• Another man sustained serious laceration to his lower leg.

A British man had his foot bitten off and another was injured in a shark attack off Australia's northeast coast, emergency officials in Queensland state said.

The pair of tourists were on a snorkelling tour near Airlie Beach in the popular Whitsunday Passage region when they were attacked.

They were flown by helicopter to Mackay Base Hospital, about 950 km (590 miles) north of the state capital, Brisbane, in a serious but stable condition, the state rescue service known as RACQ CQ Rescue said on Twitter.

• She was asked not to reveal 'anything to anybody'.

In a shocking allegation, a flight attendant said two pilots of a Southwest Airlines flight were watching live footage of the plane's toilet.

In 2017, Renee Steinaker claimed she discovered a camera had been put in the plane's toilet when the pilot, Captain Terry Graham, asked her to sit in the cockpit while he used the toilet. Steinaker said she was sitting in the cockpit with co-pilot, Ryan Russell when she saw an iPad showing a live video feed from the toilet. The two pilots flew on a Southwest flight from Pittsburgh to Phoenix.

Pakistan's former prime minister Nawaz Sharif is "critically unwell", his doctor said Tuesday, days after the three-time leader now serving a prison sentence for corruption suffered a minor heart attack.

Sharif is currently in hospital in the eastern city of Lahore after receiving "indefinite" bail on medical grounds in one of his graft convictions, with an Islamabad court due to decide on another Tuesday.

His name remains on a stop list, meaning that he must remain in the country for the time being.

"Former PM #NawazSharif, critically unwell, is fighting the battle for his health & life," his personal physician, Adnan Khan, tweeted Tuesday.

Giant skeletons springing forth from asphalt roads are taking over streets in the Mexican capital as the city gets ready to celebrate the festive and deeply spiritual Day of the Dead.
The sculptures — built out of cardboard and rocks salvaged from a construction site in Mexico City’s southern Tlahuac neighbourhood — were built by a group of artists ahead of the festival’s climax later this week.

Day of the Dead celebrations began on Saturday with a parade of women dressed as “Catrina”, a famous skeletal representation of death created by cartoonist Jose Guadalupe Posada in 1912.

9,700km submarine cable project to link Oman with Australia!

Australian submarine cable infrastructure development specialist SUB.CO has announced it has selected Subcom (formerly known as TE Subcom) to build a new international subsea cable system that will directly connect Muscat, Oman to Perth, Australia.
Once completed, the Oman Australia Cable (OAC) will be the only express cable between continental Australia and EMEA, providing the first secure, diverse and low latency route between the two continents. OAC will form part of a new “Great Southern Route” between continental US, Australia and EMEA, the Brisbane based company said.

Flooding in Central African Republic leaves at least 28,000 homeless!

BANGUI: The worst flooding in two decades in the Central African Republic has left at least 28,000 people homeless, the country’s Red Cross said on Tuesday, with the government calling the disaster a “huge natural catastrophe”.
Torrential rains have pounded the country for several days, causing the Oubangui River and its tributaries to overflow.
“The latest toll is 28,000 people made homeless” across the former French colony, Central African
Red Cross president Antoine Mbao-bogo said, adding that
entire neighbourhoods are “underwater”.
In the capital Bangui, with a population of about one million, mud homes have literally dissolved in the floods.

! A video posted on Facebook shows a woman in Burnaby, B.C. yelling “extremely rude and racist” remarks at several local Shoppers Drug Mart employees.

“Shut up...speak English in Canada,” the woman is filmed saying, pointing her finger at the female employee behind the cash register.

The woman who went on the attack, with a young boy next to her, is then approached by a third Shoppers Drug Mart employee who seems to request that she talk to the store manager.

“If you want to talk to me you bring your manager here you idiot. Or go speak Chinese with your other staff and shit talk me somewhere else,” the unidentified woman says in the video.

KATHMANDU: A Nepali mountaineer on Tuesday smashed the speed record for summiting the world’s 14 highest peaks, racing up all “8,000ers” in just six months and six days, organisers said.

Argentina’s Grossi elected head of IAEA!

VIENNA: Argentina’s Rafael Grossi was elected on Tuesday to head the UN’s nuclear watchdog, which is tasked in particular with monitoring the implementation of the increasingly shaky Iran nuclear deal.
Grossi beat Romanian diplomat Cornel Feruta to become director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) following the death of the former head Yukiya Amano of Japan in July.
The election of Grossi, Argentinia’s ambassador to the IAEA, comes at a critical time for the Vienna-based agency as Iran is decreasing its commitments under the 2015 landmark deal.
