World leaders welcomed Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Friday at the G20 summit.

The Crown Prince was seen chatting with US President Donald Trump and his daughter Ivanka and shaking hands with French President Emmanuel Macron at the start of a two-day meeting of the world's top economies.

Mohammed bin Salman and Russian President Vladimir Putin both grinned broadly and shook hands robustly as leaders converged for a group photo. British Prime Minister Theresa May also said she would meet Prince Muhammad.

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina — After much anticipation, Canada signed the revamped NAFTA in Buenos Aires on the sidelines of the high-profile G20 summit Friday.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau joined U.S. President Donald Trump and outgoing Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto at a hotel to formally sign the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement.

"The new agreement lifts the risk of serious economic uncertainty that lingers throughout the trade renegotiation process — uncertainty that would have only gotten worse and more damaging had we not reached a new NAFTA," Trudeau said.

Pakistan's rupee plunged almost five per cent to a record low Friday after what appeared to be a sixth devaluation by the central bank in the past year as the country struggles with an acute balance of payment crisis.

The unit sank to 143 rupees against the dollar just a day after Prime Minister Imran Khan's government celebrated 100 days in office with a televised conference boasting of its achievements.

The State Bank of Pakistan has indirectly devalued the state-managed unit several times already as it tries to narrow a huge balance of payments deficit.

Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discussed cooperation between the two countries in security, energy and investments, the Saudi press agency (Spa) said early on Friday.

The two leaders, who met in the prince's residence in Buenos Aires, also discussed Saudi Arabia's readiness to supply India with all its needs of oil and petroleum products and Saudi oil giant Aramco's investments in the fields of oil refining and oil storage in India, SPA said. The crown prince and Modi also agreed on investing in solar energy, it added.

COLOMBO: Sri Lanka’s parliament cut the budget of the Prime Minister’s office on Thursday, a move designed to hinder disputed premier Mahinda Rajapakse whose supporters boycotted the vote in the latest twist in a weeks-long political standoff.
Lawmakers opposed to Rajapakse, who has lost two no-confidence votes in parliament, regard his administration as illegitimate and say he should not be able to use government money for his day-to-day expenses.

An Uber driver who sparked a major terror alert when he ploughed into a crowd of tourists had been driving around London uninsured and without a licence for two years.

Tanzanian Juma Omar, 48, floored the throttle of his Toyota Prius outside the Natural History Museum and careered over the pavement, sending pedestrians flying into the air as others ran screaming from his path.

He claimed the brakes had failed, but he was convicted of dangerous driving by a jury at the Old Bailey.

The court heard Omar came to Britain as an asylum seeker in 1995, but was told to get out the country in 1998.

He met his wife shortly afterwards and they had four children together.

Omar applied for a replacement passport in another man's name and used that identity to pass his driving test.

He got a job with Uber using the fake documents and did not have insurance when hit the pedestrians in on October 7 last year.

Up to 11 people suffered non-life threatening injuries and Omar was wrestled to the floor and detained by members of the public, including Pixie Lott's boyfriend, Oliver Cheshire.

Dozen of armed police arrived fearing another terror attack was in progress in the aftermath of the London Bridge and Westminster attacks earlier that year.

Omar admitted having a passport in a false name after his application for asylum was rejected.

He also admitted having a false private taxi licence as well as having no insurance and no driving licence.

Jailing him for 15 months the judge, Mr Recorder Oliver Sells, QC, said the driving was 'appallingly dangerous.'

'The public is entitled to assume that the driver of an Uber car is who he says he is and they have proper qualifications - licence, insurance and the necessary paperwork ' the judge said.

'You flouted those important safeguards so the public was at risk whenever you were driving.'

Turning to the incident the judge said: 'You drove that Toyota Prius with your foot on the accelerator at 100 per cent pressure for over six seconds reaching speeds of almost 30mph.

'Witnesses spoke of being run down thrown on to the bonnet of the car and railings as you careered around.

Thousands at Zimbabwe’s first anti-govt rally!

HARARE: Several thousand anti-government demonstrators marched through the capital of Zimbabwe on Thursday, closely watched by armed police in the first rally since a deadly crackdown on an election protest in August.
Singing and waving placards denouncing President Emmerson Mnangagwa, the protesters gathered in the centre of Harare before streaming through the city’s streets.
The event, held with police approval, was organised by the main opposition MDC party, which says it was cheated of victory in the July 30 election, eight months after long-time leader Robert Mugabe was ousted.

Ex-diplomat Zurabishvili elected Georgia’s first woman president!

TBILISI: Georgia’s newly elected President Salome Zurabishvili on Thursday hailed her victory as a step forward for women and a move closer to Europe for the ex-Soviet republic.
With all votes counted, the country’s election commission said the French-born ex-diplomat, backed by the ruling Georgian Dream party, had taken 59.52 per cent of the second-round vote.
Her rival Grigol Vashadze, from an alliance of 11 opposition parties led by exiled ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili’s United National Movement (UNM), took 40.48 per cent.
The opposition denounced the election as a fraud. But while raising some serious concerns, foreign observers said the vote was “competitive” and well-run.

Former Trump lawyer Cohen pleads guilty to lying to Congress!

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Donald Trump's longtime personal lawyer Michael Cohen pleaded guilty on Thursday to making false statements in connection with the federal investigation into Russia's role in the 2016 U.S. election, according to a court hearing.

Cohen pleaded guilty in federal court in Manhattan to one count of making false statements to Congress in its investigation into whether Trump's campaign worked with Russia to sway the election. Cohen said in the hearing that he submitted a false written statement about a Trump Organization real estate project in Moscow.

In August, Cohen pleaded guilty to campaign finance violations, tax evasion and bank fraud in a case brought by federal prosecutors in New York.

• By 2020 there will be 10 satellites in space.

A Chinese company has unveiled the first satellite in a constellation plan to provide free WiFi service worldwide.

According to the company, LinkSure Network, the satellite will be launched from Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in northwest China's Gansu province next year and by 2020 there will be 10 satellites in space.

The constellation will have 272 satellites by 2026.

People can use their mobile phones to search for Internet services provided by the constellation and browse the Internet even in regions that telecom networks do not cover, said a report in People's Daily.
